Queens of the movies
Platinum blonde and pneumatic, Diana Dors was THE British sex symbol of the Fifties.
A superb self-publicist, she eventually made it to Hollywood, but not for long. A fracas involving her husband, Dennis Hamilton soon saw her ostracised and back in Britain. Later in her career she proved herself a capable character actress.
It has been said that the camera created Brigitte Bardot.
A picture of her on a magazine cover led to her meeting Roger Vadim who set her on the road to fame and married her. Bardo was the sex-kitten of he Fifties, a claim substantiated by the film And God Created Woman (1956) which ran into censorship problems everywhere it was shown.
